Accentuating the Value of Accounting and Auditing

We cannot do it alone; we cannot do it without you

Why Should You Attend?
This conference reaffirms a simple but vital truth: audit remains a trustworthy anchor in an imperfect world. Across history, societies have relied on accountants and auditors to safeguard assets, guide policy, and sustain prosperity. Even in “confusion of confusions” moments of crisis, sound accounting has steadied markets, while poor accounting has unleashed disorder and harm.
About AUDIT IS TRUSTWORTHY WORLDWIDE

Advocacy for the Accounting Profession

We are dedicated to ensuring that the role of accounting and audit is not relegated to obscurity.
We believe that accounting and auditing need advocacy because the profession is now being underappreciated and assaulted with undeserved asymmetric criticisms, some of which are also unexamined. The history of humanity shows that accounting and auditing nurtured civilization and nation building. Unfortunately, this is not told as widely as the storied influence of accounting and auditing reached.

Audit is Trustworthy Worldwide Advocacy: A Call for Advocacy

In the last few decades, the markets have experienced corporate scandals and audit failures, some no doubt egregious. Such scandals get frontpage presence and sensationalized in a manner that seeks to characterize accounting and audit as broken and untrustworthy. We forget all that accounting and auditing have done for society – the goodness and efficacy of auditing is not talked about. The generation of 1980-2024 probably have not heard any good stories about auditing, the newsfeeds have been filled with asymmetric stories of corporate scandals and putative audit failures. It has become formative to the opinion of the generation to the effect that they know no irrefutable reason to trust audit.

Accounting and accountants, audit and auditors, have been indifferent to the unexamined withering criticisms that are veiled against them. This is not good for the profession. At Audit is Trustworthy Worldwide Advocacy, we believe that there is need for advocacy for accounting and auditing. It is a shared responsibility. All accountants and auditors should mount advocacy in their communities to correct the wrong and undeserved image foisted on audit as not trustworthy.

Our Message

Building a Balanced Perspective:
Society needs accounting and audit, in all circumstances.
Accounting and audit have storied role nurturing civilization and nation building.
There is nothing wrong with audit that cannot be alleviated, not necessarily cured.
There is no definitive cure for audit failures, because they are partially obligatory.
Audit failure can only be alleviated.
Auditors are imperfect just like others.
There is failure in everything we do. Perfection is not a measure of the verity of a profession and its people.
Eclectic accounting/audit education and dexterity holds the key to improving audit and minimizing errors and failures
More knowledge, not less, is needed to make strong auditors. Accounting education needs consilience now.
Blame and shame has not done it, will not do it. The profession should focus on improvements through learning from failures.
Some of the changes will be generational. Therefore, society needs to be patient and hopeful.
A confident world must accept that audit could not be perfect.
A confident society should be prepared for the discomfort that comes from failures because failure is inevitable in a dynamic progressive system.

Trust Is The Raison d'etre of Audit

“Whenever the advance of civilization brought about the necessity of one man being entrusted to some extent with the property of another the advisability of some kind of check upon the fidelity of the former would become apparent,” (Brown, 1905).

Audit is inhered at the fundament of civilization because,

AUDIT IS TRUSTWORTHY!

The Essence of Accounting

As society civilized with counting and numbers many problems developed that challenged and weakened accountability. Accounting developed in response to deal with the of counting and presentation with numbers by bringing clarity and certainty to relationships that are expressed in numbers. By so doing it built the trust substrate on which modern civilization thrives. This profound role is not disregardable. It affirms that Audit is Trustworthy.
